Phylogenetic reconstruction of species assemblage

In a study exploiting data collected in our breeding facilities on various species of annual killifish of the genus Austrolebias, Andrew Helmstetter of Imperial College London and Tom van Dooren of the CNRS perform a phylogenetic reconstruction of species assemblages observed in South America. Their work shows that sympatric assemblages are the result of ecological processes favoring the body size divergence among species but with different mechanisms between four biogeographical regions. The results are available in the form of a biorxiv preprint freely available online.
